[歌手介紹] Rapper Big Pooh (North Carolina)

Rapper Big Pooh (原名 Thomas Jones) 來自北卡羅納州，曾經是饒舌團體 Little Brother 的成員，近年來單飛發展，與許多知名歌手都有合作過，像是 Drake、Kendrick Lamar、Kanye West、Lil Wayne 等等。此外，Big Pooh 也相當熱衷於籃球，除了幫忙 Slam Online 寫球評之外，自己也有在經營部落格與podcast

Big Pooh 在就讀 South Lakes High School 高中的期間，就相當熱愛音樂、並且也時常練習撰寫詩詞。2000年代早期，Pooh 與就讀同校 (North Carolina Central University) 的朋友 9th Wonder、Phonte 一同組成了饒舌團體 Little Brother，其復古懷舊的曲風總是令人聯想起90年代的黃金年代"Golden age"，並且也深受嘻哈樂迷的認同、培養出許多死忠樂迷。

至於為什麼團名要叫做 Little Brother？團員 Phonte 曾經在訪談裡這麼解釋道：

"Tribe, De La, Public Enemy ... were like our big brothers in the game so now we are the little brothers of that movement ... carrying on the tradition of good music."

2003年，Little Brother 透過獨立廠牌ABB Records發行專輯"The Listening"，在當年推出後立即在 underground hip hop 粉絲之間引起廣泛討論、掀起一陣熱潮，許多嘻哈界的前輩們也紛紛表達出對於這張專輯的讚許。不過在這張專輯中， Big Pooh 的表現，相較於 Phonte 而言並沒有那麼搶眼、甚至還招來一些批評聲浪，或許也是因為 Big Pooh 製作音樂的資歷是團體裡面最資淺的。

不過 Big Pooh 並沒有就此氣餒，在Little Brother的第二張專輯"The Mistrel Show"中進步許多，此外，Big Pooh 還在2005年首度嘗試個人專輯"Sleepers"，專輯大部份由好友 9th Wonder 製作編曲，跨刀歌手有 Phonte、Murs 等人助陣，推出後也獲得了相當不錯的評價！

無奈在2007年，與 Atlantic Records 唱片合約到期之後、Little Brother 宣布解散，Pooh 曾經在某次訪問中說道，這樣的選擇是彼此之間的共識，也是最有利於各自的未來發展：

"there are no hard feelings and no beef, this is just a decision that had to be made so all three of us could move forward and continue to provide the world with dope music."

團體解散之後，Big Pooh 仍舊繼續製作音樂、在2009年推出第二張個人作品"The Delightful Bars"，這張專輯裡雖然少了 Phonte，9th Wonder 製作的歌曲也只有一首，但是仍然有許多不錯的作品，尤其是與 TDE 的 Ab-Soul、Jay Rock、K-Dot 等人合作的"Nothing Less"，當時他們都還只是名不見經傳的新人而已 (Kendrick Lamar 當時還使用 K-Dot 的藝名)。

Big Pooh 雖然自從單飛後鮮少與 9th Wonder 或 Phonte 有過交集，幾乎沒什麼合作作品推出，但是 Big Pooh 發片速度依舊驚人、合作對象也都相當出色，例如2010年的"The Purple Tape"，由底特律的製作人 Black Milk 負責操刀、大量採用 Prince 的音樂作為取樣 (這也是為什麼名稱叫做Purple Tape)。此外，從2011年以來，Big Pooh 不停推出"Fat Boy Fresh"系列，在今年也與西岸的underground hip hop好手 Roc C 一同推出專輯 "Trouble in the Neighborhood"，預計在下半年還會推出另一張與製作人Nottz合作的專輯"Home Sweet Home"，相信樂迷們一定不會失望的！

Rapper Big Pooh 出過許多作品，我也還沒有完全聽完，但是 Sleepers 一直是我相當喜愛的一張！如果你沒空聽完全部的話，那麼個人強烈建議也先從這張專輯開始聽起！絕對是一張令人滿意的上乘之作！
