[歌手介紹] YG (Compton, CA)
YG (Young Gangsta的縮寫)，原名Keenon Jackson，1990年三月九號出生於加州Compton。
YG大概是在2008年的時候出道，放棄了幫派生活投入音樂事業，和DJ Mustard建立了獨立廠牌 Pu$haz Ink The Label。當時他們在網路上發表許多素人作品，以鹹濕的歌詞聞名，年紀輕輕的他在網路上累積了超高人氣(MySpace profile瀏覽人次1.5 million，Youtube許多單曲瀏覽人次也是累積百萬人) ，例如"She A Model"和"Aim Me"等單曲。
YG的音樂深受年輕族群的喜愛，YG也為他自己的音樂作了注解 “My music is about my everyday life. That’s why I think so many young people like it — they can relate. It’s what they and their friends are going through every day — shopping, looking for girls, getting in and out of trouble.”
最後YG被紐約的祖師級大廠牌Def Jam相中，在2009年簽下唱片合約。
Def Jam並不是第一次和西岸歌手簽約，Def Jam在九零年代初期曾經簽下加州Long Beach出身的Warren G，並且在1994年發行“Regulate…G Funk Era”，這張專輯最後成為了Def Jam歷年來最暢銷的專輯之一，同時也是西岸饒舌的經典代表作。
不過在Warren G之後，Def Jam幾乎很少進軍西岸，近年來主要都是發掘培養東岸或是南岸的歌手 (例如Jay-Z, Ghostface Killah 或是南岸的Young Jeezy，以及最新簽約的Trinidad James)。
在Def Jam任職 A&R（artist and repertoire）資深副總裁的Max Gousse (曾經捧紅B2K)，當時發掘了YG並且和他簽約。
“It started with L.A. making the investment and commitment in bringing out three A&R’s to the West Coast. We’ve been out here searching for the cream of the crop,”
Gousse說道
“I didn’t sign Y.G. because of his connection to the jerkin' movement. I signed him because he has a command of the crowd that reminded me of the classic MCs. You don’t see many young rappers with that kind of command, especially from someone who has never signed a record deal.”

進入Def Jam後，YG推出第一支作品"Toot It and Boot It"，成功打響名號，新人之姿的他在2010年的 Billboard Hot 100成功拿下第67名。
這首歌當時太紅了，在同年2010年底又發行了另外一支混音版，找來Ty Dolla $ign, Snoop Dogg和50 Cent等人合作。Ty $也是和YG同一掛的，在西岸最近也有越來越紅的趨勢。
YG的個人專輯 "Welcome to Bompton"還在製作當中，發售日期未定。但是他本人從來都沒有閒著，自己經營服飾品牌 4 Hunnid 之外，也發行了許多人氣 mixtape，例如代表作“4 Hunnid Degreez ”，"Just Re Up'd"，以及在今年發行的最新系列第二彈"Just Re Up'd 2"....等等。
這段期間他除了"Toot It and Boot It"之外，還有許多超高人氣的作品。最具話題的莫過於"Bitches Ain't Shit"，找來Tyga和Nipsey Hussle合作，這首同時也是2011年西岸最紅的單曲之一。在同年他獲得了XXL雜誌票選十大新人之一。
個人相當喜歡這首，三個人來自不同的hood，MV帥氣度滿點。
"Bitches Ain't Shit" 由YG的老搭檔DJ Mustard擔任制作。
DJ Mustard 出身自南加州Crenshaw，目前也是嘻哈圈中炙手可熱的明日之星，他炮製了許多爆紅單曲，幾乎一出手就是保證暢銷，今年還獲得了葛萊美獎提名。
最有名的就是Tyga的"Rack City" (事實上一開始原本這個beat是給YG，只是YG當時沒採用)。另外的人氣作，像是Joe Moses 的"I Do It For The Ratchets" 或是2 Chainz去年的"I'm Different" ....等等，現在已經有許多大牌歌手等著和他要beat，像是Lil Wayne, Drake, Beyonce..等。

DJ Mustard: I mean that record came about so quick. I was doing a beat for YG, and he was like, “Tyga just hit me up; he said send him some beats.” I’m like, “I don’t know what to send him.” He like, “Send him that.” I was like, “You sure?” He was like, “Yeah, send it.” So, I sent it to him on like a Tuesday or a Wednesday and like on Thursday it was out. It just blew up.

YG feat. Nipsey Hussle - You Broke ( From Just Re'd Up 2)
DJ Mustard制作風格相當明顯，聽起來其實早就和傳統的西岸饒舌曲風大相徑庭，完全沒有funk取樣，取而代之的是簡單明快的節奏。大部份YG的作品都是由他操刀，所以對於硬派西岸愛好者來說，喜不喜歡可能就見仁見智了 (個人覺得還頗high的就是...)。
YG最新的計劃，是在今年夏天推出和Nipsey Hussle共同合作的mixtape "Two Of America's Most Wanted"。這兩人之前就合作過許多次，像是 the motto, #Grindmode, I'm a thug...等等，這次聯手出擊想必也不會讓人失望！
